Man, what a night it was!
The 2026 Legends Gala was a special evening spent honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking ahead to the bright future of Jeff Davis Yellow Jacket football. From the moment the doors opened, it was evident that this program is built on something far greater than wins and losses—it is built on tradition, relationships, and a community that continues to show up year after year.
Our silent auction was filled with incredible items generously donated by so many local businesses and individuals. Your support makes nights like this possible, and we truly cannot thank you enough for investing in our players and our program.
The evening began with fellowship as alumni, families, coaches, and supporters reconnected and shared stories before enjoying a wonderful meal catered by 2 Brothers Catering. Following dinner, emcee Jim Sewell welcomed everyone into one of the most meaningful portions of the evening: our Hall of Fame inductions.
This year's inductees—Charles Mitchell, Nate Lewis, and our Supporting Role honoree, Rod Rentz—reminded us why the blue and gold means so much. Charles shared memories that transported us back to some unforgettable Yellow Jacket moments. Nate reflected on his journey from Yellow Jacket player to Yellow Jacket coach, offering perspective that inspired everyone in attendance. Perhaps the most emotional moment of the night came as Stephanie Rentz read Rod's heartfelt speech, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to coach, mentor, and lead generations of young men. As the room rose together in a standing ovation, it was a powerful reminder that the impact of this program extends far beyond the football field.
Following the Hall of Fame ceremony, we recognized this year's players who were entrusted with carrying our legendary jersey numbers. This tradition remains one of the most special moments of the Gala, as former players return to personally invest in the next generation, sharing words of encouragement and passing along the legacy they helped build.
